Pandora's box...re-opened?

So, a few weeks ago my flatmate brought to my attention an Internet phenomenon called Pandora. Basically it's licensed by the Music Genome project and is a version of Internet radio that accompanies visuals and music videos of unknown and scarcely found bands. How it works is you type in an artist, say Jack Johnson, and Pandora generates a play list of "If you like Jack Johnson...you will definitely like..." artists along with information about them. Unfortunately, when I went to the site to check it out recently it is now banned from being reproduced outside the U.S., but will hopefully come back to NZ in the near future. Anyway, this reminds me of several other Internet sites that work to incorporate the inclusion of music and film. It's not just a blog of website where other 'people' give you advice on what to listen to or what to see. But these sites work to bring lesser known artists to the forefront for real lovers of the medium; those dedicated to discovering untapped resources. I'm always surprised the things that the Internet hides and I'm amazed at some of the finds that are out there waiting to be discovered, untapped resources themselves.
