Honesty in Hip Hop

In the begining of the last lecture, Nabeel catched on with the previous lecture about Hip Hop, and how he showed us clips about this woman talking about honesty in hip hop. and i found it interesting. i realise its about people's perceptions and attitude that determines whatever they are looking at.

hip hop didn't started off by showing women's ass and boobs, its how people see it then passed the message on. i guess theres few ways u can look at the sexyness in hip hop.

1, sexyness in hip hop is an accessory. just like free straw come with every drink. its attched and connected, its just something free and associated with the hip hop genre, no matter if u like it or not.

2, its a positive representation of the female figure. it may be a more feminist view though. it pushed the boundaries of the size2 rules for women. it shows its okay to be a bigger woman, its okay to have bigger butt size and u can still be sexy and dance with famous rappers. it may be a positive change but theres more needed to be done in order to really achieve that goal.

3, its an tool to increase economy, if thats what the male viewers desires, why not attracts such viewer to consume. its a fair trade by meeting consumers desires and make money off consumers.

after all, i think its about the motive of consumers. their motives should be recognised. it should be something honest and simple.

then attitude will then slowly change, its about the openness and honesty in hiphop that really promotes itself.
