hip hop/graffiti

In the 1970’s, the hip hop culture began to emerge in the Bronx, New York, that initiated the hip hop influence all over the globe. Hip hop includes a number of elements, not just a lyrical influence, and these also include dee jaying, graffiti, and dancing mainly break dancing. Originally hip hop was seen as a form of musical and artistic expression of the impoverished afro Americans, and the hip hop style was therefore related to this social group. The idea of graffiti emerged as part of the hip hop culture soon after, and this was seen also as an artistic impression of the hip hop culture from a visual sense, as groups from these impoverished social groups came together and constructed mural works relating to their expressions of their thoughts and emotions of their reality. Graffiti is not so much seen as representative of the hip hop culture in more recent times, but the artistic and visual aesthetics of the hip hop scene often include the “tagging” and mural elements into the hip hop songs, music videos and other media elements involved with producing hip hop and its culture.
