Jared Leto, star of films such as 'Fight Club' and 'Requiem for a Dream' stars in a new film called 'Chapter 27' and plays Mark Chapman, the murderer of John Lennon. Leto, who has his own rock band '30 Seconds to Mars', gained 62 pounds to play the role of the infamous killer. The story follows Chapman on the last few days before the murder. There is a lot of controversy surrounding the film and there is even an official boycott site. The reason for this is that Yoko Ono and Paul McCartney made a request to John's fans after the killing. "Never speak his name." The last thing they wanted was for Chapman to gain the fame he wanted. Nevertheless the incident with one of the worlds most famous musicians has still inspired the creation of this film and the controversy surrounding the boycott also works to spread Chapmans name.
The film also stars Lyndsay Lohan and is directed by J. P. Schaefer.
