finding the new punk cinema

In response to our reading for the week, I have to admit that watching a film like Requiem for a Dream doesn’t make me think of punk. In a way, I envision true punk (not the mass proliferation of Ramones, Clash and Sid references in pop culture) as something radical; and punk cinema would then be something more experimental, against convention, even conventional filmmaking techniques. Maybe new punk cinema exists in the more obscure, avant garde and experimental films – the ones we don’t study in class, and ones that even Videon doesn’t have.
