So this is kind of relevent to those who appreciate classical film scores.
The Auckland Philharmonia is presenting a concert on the 2nd of June called a night at the movies featuring well know movie scores presented in such a way as so that one can appreciate the music without those pesky images getting in the way.
This is a really good opportunity for everyone to see how orchestras work to create for the ear what images create for the eye.
programme includes:
Herrmann's North by Northwest Overture, Vertigo Prelude and Psycho Suite,
Various music from James Bond films
Schifrin's Mission Impossible
Rota's La Strada Suite
Williams' Harry Potter theme and music from the Star Wars trilogies.
As well as music from Gladiator and Spiderman.
It should be a great night.
