What are peoples thoughts about the pop idol shows?

This whole notion of hypermediation where TV is trying to interact with the audience seems to be getting out of control, where 'reality tv' is just churrning out the same b.s. year after year expecting to make more money than the previous year. But am I the only one that's sick of it? Because it seems to be making a killing in revenue.
