The music industry and artists spend enormous amount of money and efforts to put their music videos together. A music video may be only 5 minute duration; however, attention is given to every single detail and is colossal. So we ask, why do music companies and artists actually bother with such a tedious project which could jeopardise them to have stress related disorders? The reason is that, benefit outweighs the risk.
By producing a 5 minute video clip, musicians are not only able to advertise their music through sound but also with visual medium. Visual advertisements thorough TVs and DVDs can make a huge difference to their advertisement strategy. Its is not only more effective than sound advertisement (e.g. radios, CDs) but enables music companies and artists to do showcase their artistic abilities and increase their chance of exposing their brands and sponsors. (E.g. wearing clothes and accessories that are owned by their sponsors)
These days, music videos are focusing more on commercial elements. One would wonder whether too much branding of music videos would jeopardise the artists’ chance of connecting to their audience through their music.
As a viewer, I would like to see more of artists oriented music videos where they are allowed to express their artistic skills or the musician's passion on their music and create a video clips that they can relate back to their music.
