sexism - typical
All the commotion and fuss about females displaying their body on screen - whats the problem? It sells music, and like film - its acting... or something like that. Female artists such as PCD, Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera etc are criticised by selling their music by displaying sexual body image but what I don't understand is why there is such a problem with this when men are able to do the same and nothing is said about them. Hip Hop artists that remake music with PCD, Nelly Furtado and Christina such as Redman, Snoop Dogg, Timberland etc... encourage this female portrayal by the lyrics they add to the song. "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado features Timberland and Justin Timberlake singing lyrics such as "I can see you with my t-shirt on...." all promote the idea of sex in music. It's controversial, popular, and has attitude. Not to mention, these female artists are saying that women can make it into the industry too and show independance and determination. It's something to think about when so many people are willing to point judgement and criticism.... but really what is it that is offending them?
