The First Appearance of YouTube on the Blog.
This is a music video for a band called OK Go, and might have gone up on the FTVMS203 blog last semester. I first encountered the video last year and thought it was very cool, and since then I've been vaguely aware of how much additional airtime the band has been getting based on its popularity. I heard them on The Rock last week, and considering they started as a shoestring Scandinavian band, I decided this demonstrated some of the power of YouTube for promotion.
And, as a secondary factor, it's a cool video to start with.

Thanks to Kevin for setting this up. Welcome 323ers. Denise tells me the course readers will be delivered this afternoon (Thursday) about 3:30. They won't be more than $10, maybe less. So if you're up on campus and have time you can pick them up before 5 pm.
Please read the first article before class next Wednesday. It's not really an article, but an internet discussion between some academics who have written a lot about film sound and music and a graduate student facilitator. It's therefore a relatively easy read and gives you a sense of some of the areas of research on the subject.
The course outline is now up on CECIL
I've been told to tell you that student fees are now due. You also have until Friday of next week, 9 March, to drop or add courses without being financially penalised.
I'm formatting the bibliography (to be posted in the next few days) and writing next week's lecture today. Over the next week or so books will start to show up in the short loan collection.
My office hours are also today Thursday 1-3 pm, so drop by if you want to talk or ask me anything. That's Room 314 in Arts 1. Other details on course outline.
